CricketRight launches selection management built only for cricket, led by Fairness First: a smart algorithm that helps make junior selection fair
UK-developed software handles availability, selection and team sheets for senior and junior sides, and its signature fairness algorithm helps junior coaches share games out fairly across the season
UNITED KINGDOM, 14 October 2026: CricketRight, selection management software built only for cricket and developed in the UK, is now open to grassroots clubs ahead of the 2027 season. It handles availability, team selection and team sheets for seniors-only clubs, juniors-only clubs and clubs that run both. Its signature feature, Fairness First, helps junior coaches share games out fairly across the season, and the coach always has the final say.
For many clubs the week still runs on group chats and spreadsheets. Availability replies are spread across several threads, coaches try to remember who played last week and who missed out, and team sheets get forwarded and re-forwarded whenever the side changes. CricketRight turns that into one simple routine. It's really easy for parents and players to log on and submit their availability. Captains and coaches pick their teams from who's available. Selected players and parents receive the team sheet by email and in-app, and if the side changes later, the update goes out automatically.
Fairness First: a smart algorithm that helps make junior selection fair.
Fairness First is CricketRight's signature feature for junior cricket. It looks at two things: how many games each child has played this season, and who's available. From that it suggests a fair team each week, so it's easier to spot anyone who's been missing out. The coach always has the final say, and it's easy to switch off.
It's about fair game time, not ability: it looks at games played and availability, never how well a child bats, bowls or fields. Coaches confirm who actually played after each match, so the season record stays accurate, and parents can see how many games their own child has played this season. That gives families a clear answer to the familiar question of whether their child is getting a fair go. The aim is simple: fewer kids left on the sidelines week after week.
Built for senior cricket too
For senior sides, captains pick their teams from who's available, and when several XIs play on the same day, the club decides which side picks first. Senior selection stays in the captain's hands.
Get your club ready for 2027 before the first ball is bowled
The UK off-season is when clubs have time to set up selection properly, and CricketRight is designed so they don't have to wait until April. Clubs can add senior and junior teams, set which age groups can play up or down and which side picks first on busy days, add fixtures one by one or import a season CSV, assign coaches and captains, and invite players and parents using invite links, QR codes or shareable posters. Everyone creates their own account, and one login covers every role a person holds at the club. Training replies and club and team messages sit alongside the selection work.
"Club cricket depends on people giving up their evenings to sort out who's playing each week. CricketRight takes the chasing out of that. For senior sides, captains see who's available and pick their XI just as easily, even with several teams playing on the same day. For junior cricket, Fairness First is the heart of it: it keeps track of the games each child has played this season and who's available, and suggests a fair team each week, so a child who keeps missing out doesn't go unnoticed. The coach always has the final say, and it's easy to switch off. The winter is the right time for clubs to get set up, so they start 2027 ready rather than scrambling in April."
