About CricketRight
Run the club, right. Fairer juniors. Faster senior picks. Less chasing.
Last updated 6 October 2026
CricketRight is a cricket club management platform for grassroots clubs running senior sides, junior sides or both. It's run by Michael Rigby in the UK. Get in touch at hello@cricketright.com.
CricketRight exists because grassroots cricket deserves better tools than group chats and half-finished spreadsheets — especially when volunteers are already giving everything they’ve got.
Why we built it
Michael has played club cricket for 30 years, and now watches his son (8) and daughter (5) starting out in the game. After a season of chasing availability on WhatsApp, piecing together team sheets, and seeing an available junior left out week after week while others were picked again and again, he spoke to coaches and parents who said keeping selection fair was hard with spreadsheets and group chats. He built CricketRight in his evenings to give volunteers their time back and give families a clearer, fairer picture of who's playing.
Why CricketRight exists
Clubs run on goodwill. Availability and selection shouldn’t feel like a second full-time job.
Replies land in group chats. Names live in spreadsheets. Coaches try to remember who played last week, who missed out, who was unavailable and who is due the next opportunity — while parents want to know their child isn’t being overlooked.
CricketRight pulls that week into one place so the club can get on with the cricket.
Fairness without replacing the coach
CricketRight doesn’t pick junior teams instead of coaches. It removes the headache so coaches can decide with a clearer picture.
For juniors, Fairness First uses availability and previous opportunities to build a dynamic CricketRight Rating — a relative view of who’s due a game among the players available this week.
Publish the recommendation, adjust it, or Free Pick. The coach always makes the final call.
For seniors, where captains and coaches pick the side, Captain's Pick gives them the same availability backbone and publishing tools — without forcing a fairness algorithm where it doesn’t belong.
One simple matchday loop
Parents and players answer availability. Coaches and captains select from a confirmed pool. Team sheets go out by email and in-app. Training and team messages sit alongside.
It’s not trying to run every corner of club life. It’s built to make the cricket operations that burn the most volunteer time work better.
Built for every role
Club administrators set teams, players and club settings.
Coaches and captains manage availability and publish sides.
Parents reply for juniors and can follow season opportunities.
Players keep track of fixtures, team sheets and training.
One account can carry more than one role in the same club.
Designed with junior cricket in mind
CricketRight only asks for what the service needs to run. For juniors, that can mean birth month and year rather than a full date of birth.
Age-group eligibility stays with the club, so play-up and play-down follow your structure — not a rigid national template.
Trust matters
Clubs and families need to know how information is handled. Read more about Privacy, Safeguarding, Security and Data Processing for Clubs.
